Dr. Troy Norris talks about spinal Chiropractic decompression therapy and how it can help alleviate neck and back pain.
I’m often asked, what is spinal decompression and can it help my back and neck pain?
The problem is that when a patient has chronic back issues, finding the right chiropractor for spinal decompression treatments can feel overwhelming
And the good news is that it doesn’t have to be difficult if you know what to look for.
First, what is spinal decompression? Today’s Spinal decompression is really computer-driven decompression which is creating a 50 pound pull force on a person’s lower back that goes into a state where it creates negative pressure on the disc. This creates centralization of a disc herniation.
By being computer-driven the spinal decompression treatment takes the slack slowly out of the tissue so the muscles don’t have the chance to involuntarily contract so it really sneaks up on those tissues and allows for true decompression to occur and as well as holds that for a period of time and then compresses which create an imbibing pressure on the disc which allows for a fluid exchange so fluid can enter the disc and leave the disc creating healing.
Spinal decompression treatment provides an effective solution to surgery and other more painful forms of treatment. Many patients report ease of pain and that they prefer spinal decompression to certain types of massage therapy.
If you qualify for spinal decompression, treatment is about 30 minutes in duration.
As for the time it takes for the relief of your pain, each patient is a little different depending on the level of severity of the spinal compression. Some people notice changes after a few sessions other people and take six or eight sessions to start noticing a significant change.
We’ve had patients who have come in who have had weakness into their legs because of nerve compression too resulting in the inability to move normally and their pain is drastically reduced as well.
Those are all things that we look for in order to classify someone in need of spinal decompression.
I’d like to give a few tips to finding a great chiropractor when considering Spinal Decompression.
TIP #1: Find out what their area of expertise is. Are they certified in spinal decompression therapy? Make sure you’re choosing a doctor that is certified in spinal decompression so they can tell you if you’re a candidate or not.
TIP #2: Are they up on the latest techniques and technologies? Do they have the right tools to provide this procedure?
TIP #3: What are their credentials? You want to make sure that you are choosing a professional that has the training and education that can provide whatever help you need.
